"Popcorn" is a famous early synthpop instrumental, originally recorded in 1969 by Gershon Kingsley. In 1972, it was a huge hit in many countries when it was rerecorded by Hot Butter. "Popcorn" has since been covered by a great number of artists. Composer Gershon Kingsley (of Perrey and Kingsley) first recorded it for his 1969 album Music to Moog By. In 1971 the song was re-recorded by Kingsley's band First Moog Quartet. Stan Free, member of the First Moog Quartet, rerecorded the instrumental with his band Hot Butter in 1972. The record was one of a rash of Moog synthesizer-based releases that characterized "synth-pop" of the 1960s and 1970s. The title refers to the short staccato or sharp "popping" sound used. Hot Butter's version became the first primarily electronic-based piece of music to reach the American popular music charts, peaking at number nine on the Billboard Pop Singles and number four on the Adult Contemporary Chart. The single had a great success in Australia where it reached number one for ten weeks. It was also number one in Switzerland, where it topped the chart for ten weeks and stayed for 17 weeks in the top ten. In Norway, it was number one for nine weeks and featured for 21 weeks in the top ten. It was also number one in Germany and reached number five on July 22, 1972 in UK and number 15 in Canada - October 1972. In France, this version of "Popcorn" is the 131st best-selling single of all time, with about 900000 sales.

As promised, here is a video on how I make the Shea butter mixes we use. I actually use the first mix on both our hair and skin and it works wonders. (Not a stretch mark yet! :)) The reason I chose the ingredients for the first mix are as follows... Shea butter: I use this because it just seems to work well on our hair. Especially in this lighter formula. It's great at sealing in moisture after washing. Has sun protection and softens hair. Purchased from: My dad lives in Ghana, so whenever my family goes over to visit, I make sure I get them to bring some over so I can stock up! :) Coconut oil: Coconut oil has been proven to have one of the highest absorbency rates of all oils. It's also great for skin as well as hair. It has been used to condition hair in India and parts of Asia for many years. Purchased from: I've purchased extra virgin coconut oil from grocery stores and from Amazon.com. Whichever has the best deal on at the time, that's where I purchase. Olive oil: This is another oil that has a good absorbency rate. It is said to nourish and condition hair and help with elasticity and strength. I mixed these natural butters: Murumuru Butter; Tucuma Butter; Cupuacu; to create a light fluffy and silk moisturizer. I am sure it can be use on the body as well. This mix was created using almond, coconut and castor oils. FYI - You may want to use a natural preservative like Vitamin E or Tea Tree oil. I did not use a preservative because I do not plan to have a shelf life over a year. I think it is wise to use one if you plan to to keep a longer shelf life. The Shelf Life of these Butter(s) is 18-24 months when kept in a cool dry place. Besides, my sweet almond oil had vitamin E in it anyways. Please do your own research and use your own Judgment.

The continued heating will help prevent the butters from becoming grainy once solid. Add additional oils and let set to cool for a few hours or set on bowl of ice.
