Tommy Bolin - Savannah Woman [Studio Version]

~ Lyrics ~ Savannah woman dressed in white, Stands out of tropical rains. She pulls her gin and tonics tight, And curses her lonely domain. Brazilian winds blow warm in Rio, A white estate they call 'The Nada'. Meant for her soul or so she says, Hides her sadist gin made eyes. No one knows but me how she left me so behind. Savannah woman I could never leave you so unkind. Snow white and with desire, that vamp from the magazine. Cold and distant as the moon, why can't she burn like fire?

artist Liu Bolin the amazing invisable man part 1

35-year-old Liu Bolin, from Shandong, China, manages to camouflage himself in any surroundings, no matter how difficult they might be. Liu works on a single photo for up to 10 hours at a time, to make sure he gets it just right, but he achieves the right effect: sometimes passers-by don't even realize he is there until he moves. The talented Liu Bolin says his art is a protest against the actions of the Government, who shut down his art studio in 2005 and persecutes artists. It's about not fitting into modern society. Despite problems with Chinese authorities, Liu's works are appreciated at an international level. Tommy Bolin Solo

Deep Purple - This Time Around • Live In Tokyo Anyway, you all know the story by now. The final date in Japan - at the Budo-Kan in Tokyo on December 15th 1975 - was taped both officially and unofficially (the bootleg first appearing on vinyl under the title 'Get It While It Tastes') and the greatly edited single LP version of the show was released in Japan in March 1977. Now the complete show is available, as it was on the night, with no slight of hand, no dodgy edits and no running order re-arrangements; as with other such DPAS-related releases, what you get is the show as it happened, warts and all, as they say. The first thing you notice is the preponderance of material aired from Come Taste The Band. Seven of the album's nine tracks were showcased on the night, a brave move considering the relatively poor sales of the album; by the time the US dates were recorded, the number of new songs had been considerably pared down. The second thing is that if you are familiar with 'Last Concert' you'll see that the bulk of the original album is drawn from the early part of the band's set. So, things get started with David Coverdale's screamed intro and THAT version of 'Burn', before giving way to 'Lady Luck' with its funky little guitar solo, and 'Love Child' which gives Jon Lord room to show off his particular skills. The first new' track is 'Gettin' Tighter', which at the best part of sixteen or so minutes not only eclipses the version on 'Foxbat' but also has more 'structure ...

Tommy Bolin Dreamer

Tommy Bolin left his home town of SIoux City, Iowa at 16 after quitting school for refusing cut his hair. With his parents blessings he left for Denver, Colorado to pursue his dream of playing guitar. With Candy and David Givens he found local success in a band called Zephyr which opened for alot of the big rock acts of the day. Joe Walsh (later of Eagles fame) recommended that Tommy be the one to replace him in the James Gang after he left in 1973. He replaced Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple in 1975 and toured with them until their breakup March 1976. After the breakup he formed the Tommy Bolin Band. He came home to play in his hometown of Sioux City, Iowa and visit his family for Thanksgiving in November of 1976. It had been the first time he had been home to celebrate the holiday with his family in 3 or 4 years. As he was leaving to go to Miami to start his new tour for his new album that had just been released his youngest brother Rick told him " If I don't seen you in this world I will see you in the next and don't be late'".Tommy replied "I am never late".Those statements turned out ot be prophetic. After playing a successful first night of his new tour to promote his new album "Private Eyes" he went to his hotel room to party. Conflicting stories tell about what happened next. After passing out while talking on the phone from an apparent overdose he was walked around the room and other measures to revive him until he was talking. An in house doctor from the ...

More guitar lessons: bit.ly THOUGH HIS LIFESPAN WAS CUT TRAGICALLY SHORT TO JUST 25 YEARS, guitar legend Tommy Bolin (8/1/51-12/4/76) accomplished more than most people who live three times as long. A self-taught prodigy, Bolin liked to work, and his track record proves it. A member of Zephyr, one of Denver's best-known psych-rock bands, and later Energy, a highly experimental instrumental jazz-rock jam band that touched on world music long before anyone thought up the title, Bolin went on to receive the highest accolades from the crème de la crème of '70s fusion and rock, replace two living legends, and develop an avid cult following. (Check out the heartfelt liner-note tributes from Jan Hammer, Narada Michael Walden, and Joe Walsh on 1996's From the Archives: Vol. 1 Rhino, and Steve Vai's message on The Ultimate: Redux Friday Music.) Bolin's solo repertoire, documented on Teaser and Private Eyes, was startlingly diverse. On Teaser alone, brash rockers (The Grind and Teaser), evocative and anthemic semi-acoustic ballads (Dreamer and Wild Dogs), Latin-tinged jazz (Savannah Woman), funky and balls-out fusion excursions (Homeward Strut, Marching Powder), reggae-flavored grooves (People People), and wailing slide guitar solos all comfortably shared real estate on the same disc. The same goes for the plethora of archival releases that continue to surface. This is rare footage of The Tommy Bolin Band at Mile High Stadium in Denver Colorado. It's the first gig with the line-up featuring Johnnie Bolin on drums and Jimmy Haslip on bass. Also in the band were original members Norma Jean Bell on sax and Mark Stein on keyboards. At the same concert bassist Stanley Sheldon performed with Peter Frampton and keyboard player Tom Stephenson performed with Gary Wright, both were in the band Energy with Tommy Bolin. Although the quality of the footage is not great, it is a rare example of a complete song performance by The Tommy Bolin Band. The audio gets better about halfway through the song. The music seems synchronized most of the time but it is not original audio. If anyone has an audience recording from this show, please contact me, I have the whole set on video but it's missing audio except for this song.
