Bob Dylan - Paths of Victory Original My first video ever! Sorry about all the random effects etc, but I was just figuring out how to use Movie Maker. Like I said it's my first video and it's the sound that counts. More to follow.

"It was less painful giving birth," mutters Sarah, whose husband is in Afghanistan, as Gareth Malone coaxes her to sing a few notes. Sam is almost worse: a lovely voice but she can barely sing a bar without interrupting herself. "Sorry, sorry..." she says, then apologises for apologising. It's the big surprise for Gareth: the soldiers' wives and girlfriends, who spend months stoically waiting for their menfolk to return from conflict, are in many cases lacking in confidence. "For very good reasons, they've clammed up," Gareth observes, before delivering the sweet balm of choral singing.

Dylan's first national television appearance. I do not claim ownership to the video or music, it is posted here solely for entertainment and educational purposes.

Brought on stage to perform at a ramblin Jack elliott concert in July 1975 at the Bitter End club, this is the only time he has ever performed this song live. Lyrics: I can hear the turning of the key I've been deceived by the clown inside of me. I thought that he was righteous but he's vain Oh, something's telling me I wear a ball and chain. My patron saint is fighting with a ghost He's always off somewhere when I need him most. The Spanish moon is rising on the hill But my heart is telling me I love ya still. I come back to the town from the flaming moon I see you in the street, I begin to swoon. I love to see you dress before the mirror Won't you let me in your room one time before I disappear? Everybody's wearing a disguise To hide what they've got left behind their eyes. But me, I can't cover what I am Wherever the children go I'll follow them. I can't play the game no more, I can't abide by their stupid rules which kept me sick inside They've been made by men who've given up the search Whose gods are dead and whose queens are in the church. I march in the parade of liberty But as long as I love you I'm not free. How long must I suffer such abuse Won't you let me see you smile before I cut you loose? Send out for Saint John the Evangelist All my friends are drunk, they can be dismissed. My head says that it's time to make a change But my heart is telling me I love ya but you're strange. Tom Paxton remembers Bob Dylan in an interview with Ken Paulson, November 29, 2000: Paxton: One night in Greenwich Village, there's a — there used to be a club called Gerde's Folk City. So, one night, Dave Van Ronk and I — apparently, we had already done our three songs apiece. And we were sitting there drinking beer, and this scruffy kid in a black corduroy cap — what they called a Huck Finn cap — and a, and a harmonica rack and a — I think a Gibson guitar got up and sang three Woody Guthrie songs. And both Dave and I, who were not easy, said, "Yeah, not bad. Ooh, this guy's all right." So, in next to no time, Bob Dylan was the most talked about, argued about artist in the Village. I mean, they were accusing him of being a Woody Guthrie clone, which was nonsense. He didn't sound like Woody Guthrie. Jack Elliot, in his early days, sounded much more like Woody than Bob ever did. But Bob had a tremendous repertoire of Woody Guthrie songs. He knew Woody Guthrie songs no one else knew. And perhaps Woody didn't write 'em. Perhaps Bob did, but who knows? Paulson: Turned out to be a pretty fair writer. Do you recall your reaction to Dylan's first compositions? Paxton: Oh, yeah. I liked his writing right from the beginning. And I have to tell you about one night. The Gaslight Cafe, where most of us worked, was on MacDougal Street. And it was down about eight steps. It was a cellar. It was a coffee house, no booze. And I — it was not a large place at all. Upstairs, on the first ...
