The Aventador LP 700-4 looks like something from another world; part supercar, part spaceship and part Pokemon. The car's exterior styling is defined by a harmonious clash of geometric shapes, highlighted by a pointed triangular nose, pentagonal-shaped headlights and a hexagonal-shaped gas-filler cap. The car's wedge-shape profile is reminiscent of its predecessor, the Muriciélago but more extreme capturing some of the lost swagger of the Countach. The Aventador is a tad bigger than the car it replaces, making it the largest 2-door sports car the company has ever produced. It stretches 188.2 in. from bumper to bumper, riding on a 106.3-in. wheelbase. Overall width and height are 79.9 in. and 44.7 in., respectively. The Aventador LP700-4 will be using Lamborghini's new 690 bhp (510 kW) 6.5 liter 60° V-12 engine. Lamborghini's fourth in-house engine and second V12. It is the first all-new V12 since the 3.5 litre powerplant found in the Miura. Performance is estimated to be 0--100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of around 349 km/h (217 mph). In its place will be the Aventador, a 700-hp devil providing a whole new generation with automotive wall art and high-speed screams. The Aventador LP 700-4, Lambo's newest top dog, hopes to build on the glorious excess of its predecessor. Fusing design cues found in the Reventón and Sesto Elemento, the Lamborghini Aventador has much in common with past Lamborghini flagships: it is named after a famous bull, packs a V12 warp drive, allows entry through a pair of scissor doors, and makes no sense as a daily driver. It has also picked up the Murcielago's electronic air intakes due to their functionality and downright awesomeness. Broad details, however, are where the similarities stop. Settled within the freshly developed carbon fiber monocoque are an all-new 6.5-liter V12 (700 hp / 515 kW @ 8200 RPM ; 509 lb-ft / 690 Nm @ 5500 RPM) and an Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) transmission. Taking Lotus-like weight loss cues from the Sesto Elemento concept, the ISR transmission is lighter, faster (just 50 milliseconds to shift), and "more emotional" than a traditional double-clutch setup while being more compact that a traditional manual gearbox <b>...</b>
