One of the most inspiring songs from GSYBE!, one of my favorites too. Godspeed You! Black Emperor (formerly punctuated Godspeed You Black Emperor! and commonly abbreviated to GYBE or GY!BE) are a Canadian post-rock band which originated from Montreal, Quebec in 1994. They were the first outside act to release their recordings through Constellation, an influential independent record label also located in Montreal. The band is perhaps best known for their lengthy instrumental songs and large membership. With nine semi-permanent members, they create prolonged tracks which utilize short movements, wide volume changes, and numerous recorded and sampled sounds. Studio albums typically contain no more than five songs, and often omit the band's name and track titles from the cover and artwork. After the release of their debut album in 1997, the group toured regularly from 1998 to 2002. In 2003, the band announced an indefinite hiatus in order for band members to pursue other musical interests. An interview in February 2008 reported the band had broken up,[2] but this was later confirmed as false.[3] Currently, the group has no foreseeable plans to reconvene.

Walter Williams' PBS documentary Good Intentions based on his book, The State Against Blacks (1982). The documentary was very controversial at the time it was released and led to many animosities and even threats of murder. In Good Intentions, Dr. Williams examines the failure of the war on poverty and the devastating effect of well meaning government policies on blacks asserting that the state harms people in the US more than it helps them. Cringely and produced for British television by Oregon Public Broadcasting. It's Christmas Eve down in Whoville, and everyone's decorating for the big day tomorrow. Everyone, that is, but the Grinch (Boris Karloff), who lives on Mt. Crumpit (just north of Whoville) with a sour attitude. He absolutely hates everything about Christmas because of the noise surrounding the entire town on Christmas Day. The Grinch tries to come up with a plan of "keeping Christmas from coming". Just then, he notices his dog, Max, covered in snow in a Santa Claus-like way. The Grinch then gets the notion of diguising himself as Santa and stealing all of the Whos' presents, believing that that is enough to stop the holiday from coming. First, he cuts out a coat and a hat and sews some fluff onto them. Next, he takes a reindeer horn and ties it to Max. Finally, the Grinch brings out a big stack of bags, loads it onto his ramshackle sleigh, and starts down on his journey to Whoville in a very comical way. Down in Whoville, the Grinch starts to steal everything in the first house. Cindy Lou Who (June Foray) wakes up and asks him why he's taking the Christmas tree. The Grinch lies and tells her that something is wrong with this tree and he'll fix it up. After tucking Cindy Lou back in bed, the Grinch stuffs up the tree, takes the log for their fire, and goes up "the chimney himself, the old liar." He does the same thing for every house afterwards. Between 1940 and 1945, thousands of Norwegians fought in Norway's Resistance movement against the occupying Nazis. More than 2000 of them, both men and women, died in action, by execution, or in concentration camps. The Norwegian heavy water sabotage was a series of actions taken by Norwegian saboteurs during World War II to prevent the German nuclear energy project from acquiring heavy water which could be used to produce nuclear weapons. Between 1942 and 1944 a sequence of sabotage actions by the Norwegian resistance movement, as well as Allied bombing, ensured the destruction of the plant and the loss of the heavy water produced. These operations — codenamed "Freshman", "Grouse" and "Gunnerside" — finally managed to knock the plant out of production in early 1943, basically ending the German research. The raid was later dubbed by the British SOE as the most successful act of sabotage in all of World War II. www.pbs.org
