My first visit to the Avon Valley Railway would be to the 'End of Season Gala' which was now being ran as a two day event, the gala featured the return of 'Black 5' number 45379 returning to its original home in preservation, the gala also featured of guest pannier tank 1369 from the South Devon Railway and 'Jessie' from the Llangollen Railway. A visit to the Avon Valley Railway for their 'End Of Season Gala'. The event was to features goods trains, local passenger trains and even 'The Pines Express' but for me the main attraction was visiting Black 5 no.45379 who was visiting from the Mid Hants Railway. Initial restoration of her actually took place on the AVR at Bitton in the 1970s and 80s, in 1997 she moved to the Great Central Railway (North) at Ruddington where further restoration work took place, then in 2002 she moved to her current home at the MHR where restoration was completed and she was returned to service in September 2010. The AVR is the first railway she has visited since her restoration. The South Devon Railway ran their Annual West Country Branch Line Weekend over the may ban holiday weekend, the weekend is to give a small picture of what a busy branch line was like back in the day, the railway ran a mixture of diesel and steam which were once common on branch lines like the South Devon. The railway ran a mixture of passenger trains and Brake Van trains to re-create the final runs over the branch in BR Days, the railway used a range of coaching stock, GWR auto trailers and the Diesel Bubble car as passenger trains. Staverton Station was also holding a cider festival. The South Devon Railway ran the West Country branchline weekend and bank holiday Monday, to this authentic and typical beauty of a West Country branchline with changes to the weather from rainy, misty to beauty sunny spells. The SDR's fleet in this film included: GWR Prairie tank 5526 GWR Pannier tank 5786 GWR cylinder Pannier tank 1369 on a demonstration goods A DMU Class 127/115 cameo. All the locations spots were got to by bicycle as all the shots were done by myself. The shot of the firewoman on the footplate of 5786 is my friend Amanda Hancock.

Returning to its original preservation home was 'Black 5' number 45379 from the Mid Hants Railway. Two other guests to the line were the South Devon Railway's 'Pannier' number 1369 and the Llangollen Railway's Hunslet tank named 'Jessie'. Also for the first time trains would be able to pass in Bitton station each carrying passengers, however sadly the day wasn't without problems as a point problem at Bitton South Ground Frame prevented platform 2 from action and so a revised service operated. The now annual End of Season Gala at the Avon Valley Railway went up in the world in 2011. The event would feature an intensive timetable with a line up of 5 locos, of which 3 were guests! The most notable would be ex resident Black 5 No 45379, returning to the line for the first time from its current home at the Mid Hants Railway. The day was blessed with sunshine, however events that occurred would not all be as good as the weather. At around quarter to ten, with trains already running 20-25 minutes late, the set of points adjacent to the level crossing at Bitton station had failed to be changed to the correct position, so when the Black 5 arrived tender first from Oldland Common with the goods to Avon Riverside, it ran straight through, forcing the points across and continuing on down to Avon Riverside. While the loco itself was not damaged, the same could not be said for the points, with the locking mechanism in multiple pieces, and the part of the point to make trains for Oldland run into the main platform slightly bent, trains were unable to operate over the point. This meant that the Black 5, 'Jessie' and the goods train were stuck on the Avon Riverside side of the crossing until repairs had been done. With the timetable put on hold for around 3 hours, the remaining 3 engines, 7151, 'Karel' and 1369, were left to operate a basic passenger service between Bitton and Oldland Common, with locos swapping at Bitton in order to release locos arriving from Oldland. This years South Devon Railway Easter Gala would take on a Cambrian theme, deferred from last years September event after visiting Dukedog No 9017s visit was put off until this year. The weather, as it had been the whole easter weekend, was perfect, with blue skies and sunshine all day. The loco line up consisted of 4 steam and 1 diesel. The full line up was:- Visiting Loco:- |GWR 'Dukedog' Class No 9017 'Earl of Berkley' (running without nameplates) Home Fleet:- |GWR 2251 Class No 3205 |GWR 4575 Class No 5526 |GWR 1366 Class No 1369 (Acting as shed pilot for the event) |Class 25 No D7612 (Recently returned from the GWSR) Highlights in this video include 3205 on Goods, 9017 and 5526 doube heading the Cambrian Coast Express, and 9017 on a short goods working.

One of the most beautiful rural preserved railways in Devon, the South Devon Railway celebrated its 40th year since reopening of the branch from Totnes to Ashburton (now Buckfastleigh) in addition to this spectacular event some guest locomotives from other preserved lines in the West Country took their role in this memoriable event, with regular passenger trains to demonstration goods services to doubleheading. After a gruelling week of chasing the Great Britain II run, I had my eyes set on the South Devon Railway as it was to be a 13 day gala. With beautiful weather and bright sunshine. It was literally impossible to miss this event. We start off with guest locomotive GWR 6400 Pannier 6435 from the Bodmin and Wenford Railway hauling a long mixed rake of goods from Totnes to Bishops Bridge outside Staverton, this locomotive had recently been purchased by the Bodmin and Wenford line from the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway. The next scene sees another guest loco GWR Prairie 5552 hauling its first train out of Buckfastliegh over the recently relaid track. The well-known river scene at Nursery Pool bridge sees another prairie No.5542 haul the single auto trailer service bound for Totnes. A bumber scene is next with 'Taffy tank' 6695 and 5552 double heading with a full rake of blood & custard stock. We see 5542 twice again, departing Staverton with its auto coach and a full rake of chocolate and cream stock. Seen again at Nappers crossing alerting the nearby pedestrians of her <b>...</b>

Su un percorso di 1369 metri supera un dislivello di 786, raggiungendo in poco tempo la stazione superiore di Piora a quota 1793 metri slm. La funicolare si trova ad Ambri, nel Canton Ticino. Grazie alla sua importanza a livello regionale, dal 2011 la Funicolare del Ritom è inserita nell' "Inventario svizzero degli impianti a fune" che elenca i più importanti impianti a fune, considerati monumenti di natura tecnica e quindi patrimonio del territorio elvetico. Die Ritom - Standseilbahn der SBB, die 1921 zeitgleich mit dem gleichnamigen Wasserkraftwerk errichtet wurde, ist eine besondere Attraktion. Mit einer maximalen Steigung von 87,8% ist diese eine der steilsten Standseilbahnen der Welt, die der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist. Auf einer Strecke die 1369 Metern misst, überwindet die Standseilbahn einen Höhenunterschied von 786 Metern und erreicht nach wenigen Minuten die Bergstation Piora auf 1793 Metern über Meer. Die Standseilbahn Ritom ist im Jahr 2011 im Schweizer Seilbahninventar aufgenommen worden. Das Inventar zählt die wichtigsten Seilbahnen der Schweiz auf, die dank ihren technischen Eigenheiten und regionalen Bedeutung von großem Wert betrachtet sind.
